Our Story
Bass Street
Dedicated partners. One vision. An enduring commitment to the Quad Cities.
Bass Street was built on a simple belief: the Quad Cities deserves a dining experience that rivals any major city in the country. A place where craft is taken seriously, where the bar program is as thoughtful as the food, and where every guest leaves with a story worth telling.
Inspired by the warmth of prohibition-era dining, we've created a space that feels elevated without being exclusive.
We are deeply rooted in family, community, and the natural world that surrounds this river. That's reflected in how we source, how we host, and how we grow.
Our vision is simple: to be the best in Quad Cities fine dining for decades to come.
Eat. Drink. Enjoy. Return.

Steven Guldenzopf
Not many chefs in the Quad Cities can do what Steven Guldenzopf does. As Executive Chef and Culinary Partner at Bass Street, Chef Steven has his hands in just about everything: the dining room, The Bar at Bass, Bass Street Catering, Fat Sacks Food Truck, and community pop-ups that keep him connected to the city he calls home. His passion for the craft is evident in every dish that leaves his kitchen. Reserve your seat for his signature wine dinners, held the last Tuesday of every month.

Rhea Vrana
Rhea got her start at the original Bass Street Chophouse in 2015, working her way from prep cook to sous chef before taking the executive chef position at ROAM in downtown Davenport. When the flood of 2018 brought that chapter to a close, Rhea kept moving forward, co-opening Fat Sacks Food Truck alongside Chef Steven and launching Cavort Libations and Bites. She stepped away for a season to focus on her family, and when she was ready to return, she came back to the place where it all began. Today, as Operating Partner at Bass Street, Rhea brings a deep commitment to quality and a genuine passion for creating dining experiences that are uniquely her own.

Heather Pearson
Heather Pearson's relationship with Bass Street goes back nearly 15 years, when she first walked through the doors as a hostess. She has worked every position the front of house has to offer, and along the way, discovered a true calling in special events and catering. As General Manager, Heather brings a warmth and intentionality to every interaction that is genuinely rare in this industry. She takes the time to connect with every guest she books, treating each event not as a transaction but as an experience worth getting right. Her expertise is felt the moment you walk through the door, at every table she touches, and in every event she brings to life.

Alicia Dennison
At just 12 years old, Alicia survived a tragic boating accident that claimed the lives of seventeen people, including her grandmother, who gave her life to save Alicia's. That experience shaped everything that came after. Today, Alicia channels that resilience and gratitude into everything she touches. Currently studying architecture and design in California, she brings a sharp eye for space, atmosphere, and the details that make a dining experience truly memorable. As a Capital Partner at Bass Street, Alicia is proud to be part of a woman-owned and operated business built on community, craft, and the belief that every guest deserves something exceptional.

Rebecca & Matthew Cumberworth
Rebecca and Matthew Cumberworth are the heart behind Bass Street's founding story. After Matthew's career in the NFL, the two built a life rooted in community and legacy, opening Clean Energy Renewables and investing in the people and places they believed in. Bass Street was purchased with their daughter in mind and run with a singular long-term goal: to one day pass it to their granddaughter, Alicia, who always had what the family calls "restaurant eyes." In January of 2026, that dream became a reality. Rebecca and Matthew passed the torch at 1425 River Drive and proudly stepped into their role as Legacy Partners, with Rebecca standing alongside Alicia as part of a women-owned and operated business. These days you can find them right where they belong, at bar seats 17 and 18, enjoying a fine meal and catching up with the guests and regulars who have made Bass Street what it is today.
